Little Learners is a play-based early intervention group program for kindy and pre-kindy aged children with developmental difficulties. It provides an inclusive, small group environment for children to interact, play and learn.
With up to six children in each group, Little Learners allows for increased adult support for peer interactions and practise towards goals. Little Learners is suitable for children with autism and children with no specific diagnosis. Children may be attending therapy at Talk Plus or another allied health practice, or currently on waiting lists for services.
Benefits of Little Learners:
Opportunities for social interaction and developing friendships
Little Learners provides a positive and nurturing small-group environment, where the children are well supported to interact and play together. The children attend regular sessions over the school term which allows them to connect and develop friendships.
Developing skills across a range of developmental areas
Activities develop a range of areas, including social communication, language, fine motor, gross motor and emotional regulation skills. By supporting children to practise these skills with peers, we prepare children for more successful interactions in play activities during playdates, when at their regular kindy and transitioning to Prep. There are indoor and outdoor play areas, so a variety of activities can be offered.
Support tailored to individual abilities and interests to achieve therapy goals
Before starting Little Learners, we get to know your child’s strengths and needs and discuss specific goals for your child. Throughout the term, we monitor how your child is progressing with these goals. At the end of each term, we meet with you to review your child’s progress and set goals for the following term.
School Term Program
Children enrol in Little Learners on a termly basis. Children can attend for one or more school terms, with some children attending throughout the kindy year. The children attend the small group session either weekly or fortnightly, with specific groups for kindy-aged children and pre-kindy aged children.

If your child attends therapy at another practice, we will schedule a parent consultation prior to the start of Little Learners, to discuss background information and goals for your child. With your permission, we will connect with your child’s therapy team before and during Little Learners.
