Our Client Care and Therapy teams are here to provide a caring and friendly experience for your family, from when you first get started and throughout your therapy journey.
01. Contact Talk Plus
If you have concerns about your child or teen’s development, contact us to discuss how can we help. No referral is required to access our services. Our Client Care Team can provide information about fees and funding options for services. We do accept referrals from GPs, Paediatricians, teachers and other allied health professionals.
02. Parent Consultation
During the parent consultation, we discuss your concerns about your child or teen’s development and background information. This helps us get to know your child and family better and individualise the assessment and therapy supports for your child.
The parent consultation may occur as an individual appointment prior to the assessment or at the start of the assessment session. We know some families value the opportunity to discuss their concerns without their child present.
Before you come for the parent consultation, we ask you to complete a parent questionnaire and send any previous assessment reports to us.
03. Assessment and Goal Setting
We complete an assessment with your child, to identify your child’s current areas of difficulty and strength. The assessment may be completed over one or two sessions, depending on your child’s needs.
The assessment results are then discussed with you, as well as the recommended plan for support. In collaboration with you, we plan therapy goals, based on the assessment results and your goals for your child.
04. Therapy
Therapy sessions are individualised, based on your child’s needs, goals and interests, to help achieve their therapy goals.
05. Review
Your child’s progress and goals are regularly monitored during therapy. Periodically, we schedule a review assessment and discuss your child’s progress, current needs and future goals for therapy.
There are several funding options available for financial support to access allied health services. Please contact our Client Care Team if you have any questions.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Talk Plus provides services to self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. NDIS provide funding for supports and services for eligible people with a disability. Children younger than 6 years of age do not need a diagnosis to get support through the Early Childhood Approach where there are concerns about their development. For further information about accessing the NDIS, please see www.ndis.gov.au or contact Bush Kids or Carers Queensland.
Medicare: Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)
A Chronic Disease Management Plan, is a referral from your GP to access allied health services, usually as part of Team Care Arrangement for your child’s care. Your GP will determine if your child is eligible for a CDM plan. This plan provides a partial rebate for up to five allied health sessions per calendar year. The rebate from Medicare can be processed at our practice through Medipass.
Private Health Funds
Depending on your private health policy, you may be entitled to receive a rebate from your private health fund for allied health services. As the rebate amount varies between private health funds, please check with your health fund for further information. Private health care rebates can be claimed using our HICAPS machine at the practice or privately through your fund.
Fees
Please contact the Client Care Team for our fee schedule or if you require further information about funding options.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, we require at least 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment time. A late cancellation fee applies for less than 24 hrs notice or not attending a scheduled appointment. If the session can be rescheduled or alternative billable work completed, this fee is waived.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, our Client Care team require at least 24 hours notice from your scheduled appointment time.
If you cancel an appointment at late notice, or do not attend a scheduled appointment, we are unable to re-fill the appointment time. Appointment times that are lost could have been used to help other children and families and the practice loses income for that appointment.
All appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or are not attended, will be charged a late cancellation fee (100% of the invoiceable cost). For late cancellations, we can provide alternative supports for your child in the appointment time as appropriate (eg. resources).
